Redwood Knot

Karen Boissonneault-Gauthier's images are characterized by an unmistakable reality.

Nature is captured by it's simplicity and it's ability to provide great beauty, from the smallest components of life, branching and budding out of the largest of California's trees. The Redwood Forest has been captured in many ways, but rarely do we see the ground and roots which provide nourishment to these giants, captured in such a way.

To some, the image provides hope, while to others, it emotes sadness. As climate change plays a pivotal role in maintaining the health of this ecosystem, the balancing act these gentle giants must perform is a real struggle. KCBG Photography's Redwood Knot was published in Artemis Journal, 2014.
